Continuing the Reformation: A Missional Theology for the 21st Century Global Church

For schedule of events, see http://www.wrfnet.org/web/guest/generalassembly/scheduleofevents

Introduction

The year 1560 marked a pivotal moment in the Reformation in Scotland.  During that year the Scottish Parliament approved the Scots Confession and the first General Assembly of the Scottish (Presbyterian) Church was held.  Also, the Geneva Bible was completed.  When we meet together in 2010, we mark the 450th anniversary of these events.

We also mark the 100th anniversary of the World Missionary Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland.  The theme of that conference was “The Evangelization of the World in This Generation.”  Emerging out of this conference was the International Missionary Council (in 1921), the formation of the World Council of Churches (in 1948), the merger of these two bodies (in 1961) and the creation of the Lausanne Consultation on World Evangelization (in 1974).

Join us as we continue to build on the historic foundation established in Edinburgh and work to continue the Reformation in our own century.
