UTX
What Is University truthXchange?
UTX uncovers a massive exchange of truth for error.
Our name comes from Romans 1:25: "...they exchanged the truth of God for the lie." Paul's analysis of 1st Century pagan culture is an accurate analysis of 21st Century culture. Paul declares that God judges three pagan exchanges - an exchange in the areas of our thinking, our spirituality and our sexuality. At each exchange, God "gives them over" (in their minds; in their spirits; and in their bodies).
UTX gives courage in the face of intimidation.
The mouths of our college students are often closed in their public witness because they are intimidated by the politically correct ideology of the academy. Christian students are often backed into survival mode by the mantra, "Can't we just get along?" They often find it difficult to mount a convincing critique of the erroneous worldviews on campus or to articulate a theological defense of the Gospel. They cannot take on the challenge of paganism that surrounds them if they ignore the categories that define it. Understanding these categories will help Christians find their minds and voices.
UTX equips students to recognize and oppose pagan spiritualities.
Students will learn from a variety of speakers to recognize and analyze the "new spirituality." Topics will vary from conference to conference, but will include such subjects as: Cultural Diversity, The University Campus in a Global World, Global Spirituality, The Five Points of Paganism, Hinduism's Influence on the West, The Search for Clarity in a World of Spiritual Confusion, Biblical Cosmology and Christian Worldview, The Legalization of all Sexual Options,The Christian Response to Neo-paganism, etc.
UTX arms the minds of students with a biblical worldview.
This encounter brings together college believers from Christian and secular universities to think through notions of spirituality they hear on campus -- especially the new paganism. It will also show what Christian spirituality looks like.
The goals of university truthXchange:
- To provide Christian students with the thinking and language they need to stand against the errors of our day.
- To give students back their voice, so they can evangelize on campus.
- To show the thinking, techniques, and consequences of the pagan and Christian worldviews.
- To give biblical teaching on the Great Antithesis (paganism is the opposite of the truth).
- To help ground students in the reliability of biblical worldview.
- To provide follow-up opportunities and mentoring for student leaders, youth group leaders, pastors and parents.
